Technology in Everyday Life- Online Exercise 2

Think of a technology you use in everyday life—one that is not typically used in the classroom (for instance, a cell phone, personal digital assistant, or blog). Then consider a concept that students often struggle to learn in your subject domain (social studies, English, science, whatever you plan to teach). Think about ways you could use that technology in your teaching and learning. Sketch out some possible ideas, using the following questions as your guide:

• How could you use this everyday technology to teach students the difficult concept?

• What would you expect students to gain from the learning experience? Would they discover new ways of applying everyday technology for their own learning?

Don't forget to list the names of the group members!

Multimedia in the classroom can inspire students to achieve at higher levels as well as change the dynamics for teaching and learning in the classroom. The use of multimedia programs open many doors for using multimedia with students. They not only learn first hand how to operate technological equipment but also can enhance other skills such as scriptwriting, creativity, planning, storyboarding, photography, videography and many others. Through these opportunities, students are introduced to a whole new world of communication. By using authentic products such as podcasts, video production, web page production, and others, students are given a creative outlet to communicate thoughts and new knowledge.
