Website Evaluation and Misleading Websites

Visit the following website to learn more about specific criteria for evaluating websites.

    Authority - No one knew the author and when we clicked on the author's name, it linked to a "totally bogus" biography full of fabricated and silly information.

    Reliability - The information on the website is inaccurate and is not backed up with credible sources.

    Authenticity - There are no biblographical references and has not been peer reviewed for accuracy.

    Efficiency - the article is not organized well. It is a long stream of paragraphs with little organization.

    Objectivity - the article is written from one point of view. It shows a biased opinion with little or no factual evidence or sources.

    Authenticity - no sources are cited within the article.

    Authority. Who says? Main Article: Dave Cosnette, February 10th, 2009 (updated) but other authors included in article. He created to disprove NASA’s landing on the moon. Does not seem to be reputable or an expert in the feelWe do not recognize this author

    Objectivity. Is the information biased? YES- only one-sided info. Mainly author’s opinion- tries to give facts about pics, but they’re photoshopped.

    Authenticity. Is the information authentic? No sources are listed- videos are youtube videos, therefore not considered authentic.

    Reliability. According to the opinion of the author and the biased info, we cannot say that this info is reliable. We can’t really prove either way, but no sources are cited

    Timeliness. Yes, It was updated in 2009

    Relevance. Yes, if you were looking for entertainment or are a lover of conspiracy theories. Looks like they are trying to get you to buy books at the bottom of the page.

    Efficiency. No, the organization is less than appealing and not easily found within the article- you have to read A LOT of information.

    We believe this website is not a legit website.

    Is it full of fact or opinion?
    This is a very opinionated article that doesn't list any positive characteristics of water.

    Is the information from an established organization?
    While we don't know the author, Tom Way, we also can see that this isn't supported by an organization.

    Has the information been reviewed by others to insure accuracy?
    In googling "Dihydrogen Monoxide" we were able to find another website stating this as a hoax that started in 1990.
