In the history/geography apps on the Ipad we had fun playing around with the different map quizzes (World Countries app). Putting this work in the form of a game seems to not make it feel like work at all. The amount of information that is available right at your fingertips is endless and for some reason playing with it on the Ipad makes it a little more fun and interesting. The Ipad is really great for small group work as well.

Dr. Suess: reads story to children - highlights each word as the story is being read. great for children who are learning to read, struggle with fluency, rhyming sounds, good for ELL students- click on pictures and identifies words, character identification
isign: to use with hearing impaired students
Use the ipad as an incentive for behavior managment plans
Meets the needs of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners
ibook, dictionary app, Shakespeare app, word with friends, Achievers writing center. These are a few apps that we looked at and decided they would be good in an english classroom. We like the idea of plugging it into a projector and dicussing passages, or words with the class. The iPad is a good tool to have. It makes the process of learning faster because everything is in one place, and a finger click away. Having the iPad projected keeps the students eyes up, so you know when they are paying attention. I think it is an easy way to keep the students engaged.
